History

Nearly everyone inquires about the history and reliability of the Servants by Design™ Inventory, so let's start here. Fellowship Bible Church is excited about our partnership with Transpersonal Technologies, L.L.C., which originated the Servants by Design™ Inventory and Personalized Profile Report. These materials have been adapted, in part, from the Process Communication Model® developed by Taibi Kahler, Ph.D. in the early 1970's.

Since its inception, this model and its adaptations have been successfully utilized in industry, education, correctional work, mentoring programs, clinical settings, marriage seminars, vocational guidance, and even as part of the selection process for NASA astronauts. It was chosen by NASA because of its accuracy in assessing compatibility between astronauts and the model's unique ability to predict how people are likely to react under stress. Over the past three decades, tens of thousands of individuals around the globe have been introduced to the Process Communications Model® and profited from the insights and self-awareness it has fostered.

In the early years, Dr. Wanda Stephens, founder of Living Hope Institute, L.L.C., was moved by the possibilities of the Process Communications Model® in spreading the Gospel of Christ and for treatment of psychiatric illness from a Christian worldview. She hired Dr. Maris to write the original interpretation of the Process Communications Model® from a Christian perspective. The resulting work was Your Great Design™.

The Servants By Design™ Inventory and the resulting Profile Report are a special application of these materials, developed and expanded upon by Robert Maris, Ph.D. and Dr. Jerry Richardson specifically to help individuals in churches discover their God-given design and find their fit in Christian service.

Due to the acceptance and success of this instrument in their local church, Dr. Maris and Dr. Richardson have joined with Pastor Bill Wellons in pursuing a vision to make this resource available to churches across the globe.
