Registration and Creating Groups

Q

What is the difference between an "Organization" and a "Group"?

A

A Group is in case you want to buy additional inventories and invite people to join your group. If you want to buy additional inventories and invite people to take the inventory as a group, then you will need to create a group.

Some groups of people belong to the same organization or company.  An Organization might be your church or company name. It is not necessary to complete this if you have not been given a Group name.

Q

I try to purchase a login and it says "Your Cart is Empty" - what can I do?

A

This behavior is caused by disabling cookies in your browser. Cookies are messages that web servers pass to your web browser when you visit Internet sites. Online stores often use cookies that record any personal information you enter, as well as any items in your electronic shopping cart so you don't need to re-enter this information each time you visit the site. Cookies are required on this site in order to track your progress through the purchasing process. You must enable them before the process will work correctly. You can find instructions for enabling cookies here. You can then disable them once you complete the process - as they are not required to take the Inventory.

Q

I have an Apple Computer, and using Safari as my web browser I am having problems using the site. What browser should I use?

A

Apple users should install Firefox and use it for this site instead of Safari.

Q

How do I purchase more than one inventory and create a group?

A

When you register for the first time, check the box on the registration form for creating a group. (Note: If you want to create a group after you have registered, go to the My Information tab after logging in and click on the button at the bottom of the form to Create A Group.) You will then be prompted to enter your Group name and information (the detailed information is for internal use only and not presented to group members). After entering your group information, add the Inventory to your cart then increase the number of inventories you want to purchase.

After you pay for the inventories, you can now give participants your Group name. You can download an invitation and invite them with a letter or via e-mail. They will need to enter your Group name when they register for an account.

You do not have to pay for people to invite them to your group. If you do pay for multiple inventories, once your group members' registrations are complete, you must go to the Assign Inventories tab and click ADD before they can take the Servants by Design personality inventory. When you click ADD, the user from your group will receive an e-mail notifying him or her to begin taking the inventory.

TIP: Consider giving group members a registration deadline and let them know they will be able to take the inventory within a short period of time afterwards. This will help to ensure that group members register in a timely manner while also giving you the timesaving benefit of allocating all of the inventories at once.

If someone doesn't use a purchased inventory, you can click Remove and then you will be able to reassign that inventory to someone else. The RESET button may be used to reset a profile.

Q

I have registered and purchased an inventory. Where is the receipt for my purchase?

A

Once you register, a receipt of your purchase is emailed to you.  Please check your “junk mail” folder.  Sometimes unidentified email messages are placed there by your email provider. If you do not receive a receipt, please contact help@youruniquedesign.com or call 501.975.5050 (Monday-Friday, 8:30a – 4:30p CST.)

Q

I want to purchase a large number of inventories.  Do you offer discounts for group purchases?

A

We are sorry that we cannot discount the Servants By Design™ Inventory further.  We believe that this is a very good value and we have done everything possible to keep the price accessible to everyone.

Some churches and large study groups have chosen to underwrite a portion of the $35.00 cost in order to offer it at a reduced rate to their participants.

Q

When purchasing inventories for a group, if someone doesn't use it, can that be refunded?

A

All sales are final. If a person does not take the test, you can assign it to a different person in the group or someone else you invite.

Q

My spouse and I share one e-mail account but we both want to take the Inventory. Why can't we register with the same e-mail address, and what can I do to fix this?

A

Each person who registers to take the Inventory must enter a unique e-mail address. If you attempt to register with an e-mail address that is already in the Your Unique Design system (by using your registered spouse's e-mail address, for example), you will not be able to complete registration and will see a message that the e-mail address you've entered is already in use. However, you may create a new e-mail account for free by using a Web-based e-mail application. We recommend Hotmail, GMail and Yahoo!. Once you've created a new e-mail account, come back to youruniquedesign.com and register with your new e-mail address.

Completing the Inventory Questions

Q

I have registered.  Now I am attempting to log in using my user name and password but the program is telling me my information is incorrect – what’s the deal?

A

The password you created is “case sensitive.” Check to make sure you are entering your password information just like you created it.

Q

Do I have to complete the inventory in one setting or can I break it up into several sessions?

A

The inventory records each set of answers immediately, which means that you can start, stop and come back as many times as you like. Simply click the Stop and Save button at the bottom of your screen. To come back to the site, log in and the program will take you right back where you left off. However, the program will not allow you to go back and change any answers once you save a page.

Q

How long does it take to receive personal profile results?

A

In most instances you will receive your results in 3-5 minutes after completing the test and clicking on the "Start Task" button. You will see a prompt telling you to wait until processing is finished. If you don't want to wait, click the "Start Task" button, log out then log back in later to download your Adobe Acrobat PDF profile. If you do not receive your results, please contact help@youruniquedesign.com or call 501.975.5050 (Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm CST.)

Understanding My Profile Results

Q What is the "Profile Companion"?
A  Compact and concise, the Servants by Design™ Profile Companion is a quick-reference booklet that provides general information about all six personality types that comprise your inventory results. This Profile Companion complements the Servants by Design™ Profile but is not essential to understanding your personal profile results.  The Profile Companion is mailed to your billing address and should arrive approximately one week after ordering. Cost: $5.00

Q

What does "foundation" mean exactly?

A

Your “foundation” is a term we use to describe the personality part that determines your perception, or the way you perceive and interact with the world around you. It is the personality part that you depend on most and are usually the most comfortable with.

Q

What does "phase" mean?

A

Your “phase” is a term we use to describe the personality part in which you are currently experiencing motivation or need. (The phase floor is the first one that has less than 100%). It is a developing part even though you may have been in your current phase for a long time. Your “phase” personality part can be the same as your “foundation” or it may be a different personality part.

Q

Can my "phase" personality part ever change?

A

It is possible over an extended period of time for you to begin to experience psychological needs or motivations in a different personality part. We would call this a phase change. You may recall a movie about someone who was very un-emotional and information-oriented, who was even a loner, but over time began to feel a new need for relationships or romance, or someone who was very private and passive about life, but found some need to support a cause or movement in a way that led them to take a public stance and even crusade. These would be examples of “phasing.”

Usually a phase change only occurs over a long period of time, and it usually involves a period of distress.

Q

What does it mean if I don't have any floors that have 100%?

A

It means that your foundation and phase are the same. Both your perception and psychological needs will both come out of the same personality part. This is true of about 33% of the population.

Q

What does it mean if I have two or more floors that have 100%?

A

The first floor that has 100% is your foundation personality part. It will be the personality part that demonstrates your perception and the strengths of your foundation will be strengths that you will always carry with you in a unique way.

The other floors that have 100% are called stages. At some point in your life you moved through these personality parts as a phase, experienced the psychological needs of these parts, and developed the strengths of these personality parts to some degree. They are floors that you can now easily access, but do not experience the needs as acutely as your current phase or your foundation.

Q

How do I develop the personality parts for which I have smaller percentages of energy?

A

When we are getting the needs of our current foundation and phase met, we are able to access the other parts of our personality and utilize the abilities of those parts, but we will always need to recharge our batteries by addressing our foundation and phase needs. Although we can improve our skills at some things, it will not change the way God has made us. Trying to be someone we are not will always bring us frustration and stress. To put yourself in a role that requires you to stay in a personality part that you have little motivation for may not be a good thing for you. Helping you to understand, value, and utilize the gifting that God has given you while being a healthy person is the goal of this instrument.

Q

My profile is different from last time. Why?

A

Over twenty-five years and 200,000 profiles tell us that your actual design changes very slowly and predictably. Several possibilities of why your profile results may vary are: stress when you took the inventory, a spiritual experience that actually produces change, trauma in your life that has produced a change, outside influences such as the environment in which you took the inventory that could have given you a preconceived notion of what is “right” or “wrong” as a response.

Q

Do I fit with my spouse?

A

No worst or best combination has ever been discovered. Trust in God’s sovereignty. What may appear as a mismatch may be a stronger team with growth potential on both sides. The goal is for you both to be healthy. Working together to meet each other’s needs in any relationship is the goal of learning about each other’s personality profiles.

Q

Can I change my profile?

A

No profile is better, smarter, or more gifted that any other. The goal is to be healthy by getting your needs met in the way God made you. Your personality profile will help you by alerting you to what your current needs are so that you can arrange to get your needs met in a healthy, productive way.

Q

How do I change my spouse's profile?

A

The only alternative would be to take the test for them and answer it like you want; but it probably won’t change their behavior! It is not in our ability to change another person and will probably only lead to frustration. We can, however, stretch ourselves to meet their needs and invite them into a better spot this way.

Q

What personality type is best for fathers? Mothers? Churchmen? Leadership? Etc.?

A

All have strengths and all have blind spots. Nurturing, comforting, teaching and being a fun parent or person are all-important roles in every family or organization. It is good to understand that all gifts are needed.
